Position of cards play an important part of a reading. What cards sit next to another and how they relate to each can speak volumes for the messages within the spread. I pulled two cards from the Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot:
The Empress faces forward, while the five of wands is angled a little to the left.
Your writing prompt: Create a conversation between the figures in these two cards. What are they talking about? Does the way they are facing change the dynamics of the dialogue? How does the fact that one is a major arcana card shape the discussion? Does having the cards converse this way make you see spreads in a different way?

Hi Jen,
these pictures created immediateley the scene of a mother who has given up facing the will of her child. She still keeps the signs of control – but to be honest, the sovereign seems to be the little one (preferred age: 2 years…).
I think it´s her facial expression that leads to this image. If she would look less frustatrated, would smile and blink her eyes, it would evoke a different atmosphere… a softly dominating mom watching her child play and exploring its little world.
So the scene takes place in a playground and the dialogue I´m hearing is:
“Oh, sweety – don´t do THAT!”
- Sweety keeps on doing, saying somthing like “brrrrrrrrrrrrrr eeeehhh aaaahhhh”
“Sugar, I already told you not to do that – don´t you remember??”
- Sugar keeps on doing… babbling and shouting with glee…
“Oh, honey! How can I make you understand not to do this?” Mum is looking fondly at her child, aware that it´s dangerous what Sugar is doing.
“Honey, please leave it! Otherwise Mummy has to take it away…”
In this very moment the little one injures itself by doing what it was told NOT to do. Mummy becomes angry and scared that it might be a severe wound…
She breaks out in tears, picks up the child and makes haste to consult a doctor right in time before the office will be closed.
Ok, maybe it´s because of my profession that this association came up first. I experience this “inversion of control” every day in the doctor´s office…
This practice was great! – Thank you!
