I’ve been thinking about the different types of tarot readers there are lately, as well as the varieties of insight we all bring to the table. I’m not sure that one card can really define such a question, but I decided to give it a try. I pulled a card, asking what kind of tarot reader am I? I got The High Priestess.
The one pictured here is from the Paulina Tarot. I figured I had it out for the tarot writing prompt anyway…I might as well stick with the same deck.
Anyway, I wasn’t surprised by the card. It’s my birth card. Maybe it’s simply that I read by intuition and bring wisdom to the table to shed light on secret knowledge…or something like that. I know, I’m simplifying. And rambling.
What about you? What card did you get? What do you think it means? And do you have ideas for a spread for a question like this? Or is one card enough?

Simply put, I believe the tarot is never wrong (only we might be).
This is as you described, a card of intuition. Birth card? It belongs to the moon. Are you Cancer by sign? Ruled by the moon?
Finely, I can not see one card being enough. This definitely deserves a spread of some nature.
Do you have any ideas for a spread?
I’m not a Cancer. Birth cards are assigned by numerology: http://www.tarotschool.com/BirthCards.html
Hi Jen,
This is a great post. I used it as a prompt for my Tarot Card of the Day post as well. I pulled the Queen of Cups (which is related to the card you pulled)!
I posted it on my blog.

Brilliant idea! I love it. I got the Ace of Cups….whew! So glad I eluded something like the 9 of Swords or the Devil.
Fun activity!
Look at all the cup cards being drawn! How awesome is that?
Nicole, The Queen of Cups comes up to represent me in readings a lot, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised it’s related. Hah!
Hi Jen,
Both of our cards are related. It’s sort of funny when you think about it, since mine too, was a random drawing. And yes, that is quite funny that we are all drawing cup cards. We must be in tune with something based on the ones that came up!
Cheers, Nicole
Wait, wait, I have a correction to make: the drawing wasn’t random, it was meant to happen. I have to keep reminding myself that Tarot isn’t a random process.
ThelemicWaves, I agree this deserves a spread of some nature as well. This was strictly a one card exercise.
Cheers, Nicole
Initially, when I asked what kind of reader I am, I got the two of swords reversed. I took that to mean my current state as a reader (it’s pretty accurate. I have been feeling stuck for a while and am just starting to “unstick”). So, I switched the question a bit and asked what my reading style is and I got the Hierophant… very cool! Especially considering that post I did about the Hierophant a while back… I like the idea that I could shake things up in people’s spiritual lives to help them make a much needed change!
Thanks for the exercise!
