Tarot Writing Prompt: Inner/Outer Voice Switcheroo

Osho Zen Tarot: Inner VoiceLooking for some inspiration for my own writing, I pulled a card from the Osho Zen Tarot. When I first looked at it, my eyes went right to the big moon that’s taken over her body. Then I saw the words “inner voice.” That had me thinking about things we write that the characters think vs. what they say. And since the inner voice is what’s speaking so loudly in this card, I thought it might make for a fun writing prompt.

Your writing prompt: Write a dialogue between characters where their inner and outer voices trade places. They must speak aloud words they would normally only think, while words they would normally speak now become inner dialog alone. What does that do to the conversation? Are they even able to have a conversation this way?

Something else to think on, do tarot cards have inner and outer voices? Or maybe dimensions of the same voice?

Very cool post! Your comment about inner voices vs. outer voice is thought-provoking when it comes to the tarot. I am intrigued by the notion that a card would have an inner voice and an outer one and I’m not sure what to think of it just yet… food for thought, indeed!

On another note, I feel like the best writing is writing in which the characters are so fleshed out that the readers can feel there is more to the picture than what they are being shown. It’s tricky to do, but makes for excellent style!
