Tarot Writing Prompt: Dear Abby

Choose one card as “Abby” and another as the letter writer. What does the letter say? How does “Abby” respond?

What card did you pick as “Abby?” Is this card a good counselor? What about the querant? Do you think this card would be open to “Abby’s” suggestion?

    Dear Abby,

Lately I’ve been plagued by thoughts of my own mortality. I am haunted by a black weight I cannot explain. I have searched high and low for answers, tracking down old scrolls full of mystical teachings and staying up ’til the dawn light breaks, working with magickal herbs and elixirs, but still enlightenment eludes me. Instead, there is only the darkness.

Even now, I feel a cold wind blowing down my neck. I fear my time is limited.

    Sincerely,
    Tortured Magician

    Dear Tortured Magician,

It is always darkest before the dawn. Why, I’m sure if you look out of that window, you’ll see a beautiful rosy sky as the sun crests the horizon, heralding a new day, full of creative potential. Remember: Shadows are just that – shadows. Nothing a good lamp or three can’t cure. If you want to get more metaphysical, remember that the light is within yourself; you’ve just got to set it free. Go run around outside, rather than sitting cramped up at your desk reading dusty scrolls. Or cook a nice dinner with those magical herbs and share it with someone you love (or would like to love, if you know what I mean ;) ).

As for the cold wind blowing down your neck, maybe you should shut the window.

    Best,
    Abby

p.s. I used my brand new Dark Grimoire. The Magician card is writing in a book! And the King of Wands is laughing his butt off :)
